Milling Around in Newcastle recently sold several donated pieces by local artist Jake Day, which had been on display in their shop. The anonymous donor of the collection is gifting the proceeds of the sales to The Lincoln Home’s “HELP US HELP OTHERS: A TIME OF GIVING” campaign. There are two remaining pieces for sale at Milling Around (www.woodenbobbins.com): a Jake Day painting and a wood carving. The donor plans to gift additional proceeds to The Lincoln Home. The painting is a Jake Day original entitled “The Sleeping Hunter” given by the artist to Bentley Glidden, a member of Jake's Rangers, which in Jake's humorous style depicts "Bent" snoozing in the woods while a deer passes by. Jake Day's creative dioramas will be on display in the windows of Milling Around and Damariscotta Region Chamber of Commerce for the holiday season as part of Villages of Light and are best enjoyed after dark when the magical scenes truly come to life. 

 

The Lincoln Home is one of the last freestanding, not-for-profit senior care communities in Maine, and receives no federal or state dollars.  Contributions to the Resident Financial Assistance Fund allow The Lincoln Home to provide over $200,000 per year in financial assistance to residents who have exhausted their own resources, so they may remain in the place they love and call home. Because of the Pandemic, The Lincoln Home’s annual fundraising event, Lobster & More, was cancelled. This year, support from community members and businesses is needed more than ever to help The Lincoln Home remain the extraordinary place that it has been in our community for 97 years.
